After spending 13 years with the Broward County Public Defender's Office, where I was typically handling 50-100 cases at a time, I opened the Law Office of A. Randall Haas in 1999. Over the past 23 years, I have defended a wide array of misdemeanor and felony cases. There are typically no delays once I commence my representation of my client. A Passion for Defending Good People in Bad Situations
I grew up on Long Island and, after obtaining my undergraduate degree at Michigan State University in 1981, l became involved in real estate. I was unfulfilled. I found myself witnessing a lot of good people being mistreated by police. I began to hear more and more about good people being railroaded through the court system. I heard a calling to prevent injustices.
As my desire to prevent the government's abuses of authority became more of a passion, I decided that I could best pursue my mission and answer the call by becoming a lawyer. I attended Nova Southeastern University Law School (now called Nova Law School) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida), and graduated in 1986. That same year, I was hired as a public defender in Broward County where, for the next thirteen years, I honed my courtroom skills by working a high volume of cases and appearing in court on a daily basis trying cases and arguing motions.
It continues to be my passion to defend those whose rights have been violated and to fight for a second, and even third, chance for every person accused of a crime. This is what my practice and, to a large extent, my life is dedicated to virtually every day for DUIs, weapons charges, drug possession and all other state and federal crimes.
